We shouldn’t have been surprised, then, that Cody McGraw, founder of SCOUT Military Discount app, was referred to Socedo through his comrade Sam, the founder of Sandboxx. “He told, me, ‘As soon as you get some marketing dollars, use Socedo.’ That’s what I did.”
SCOUT is an app that locates military discounts and offers from thousands of providers. It also allows the capability for users and businesses alike to upload offers into the app personally. These discounts are vetted through SCOUT and then shared with the military community. The app automatically verifies each offer and updates the app accordingly within hours.
With SCOUT, military members have free, on-the-go access to discounts specialized just for them.
McGraw’s motivation to create SCOUT was “to enrich the lives of those in the military,” so SCOUT’s target criteria in Socedo focused on people in or connected to the military. So while creating this specific DM, our customer sales manager Damien, assisted with an approach that would be sent out to each follower.
“At first, I didn’t feel too strongly about sending automated DMs because so many companies and people use Twitter DMs as spam. However, the way Socedo interacts with a potential user, the DM process isn’t spammy at all.”

McGraw was happy with the results from Socedo. The DM persuaded many users to download the SCOUT app and give personal opinions on the product, which was exactly what McGraw wanted.
After a couple months of using Socedo, SCOUT saw a 20% increase in downloads per week. But the non-monetary gains pleasantly surprised McGraw, including the valuable responses to his DM.
